Through innovative approaches to literacy and early childhood education, DREAM promotes critical thinking and independence to enrich lives and strengthen sustainable communities.

What reading promotes
Increased access to print improves reading achievement for low-income children and promotes academic and personal positive self-esteem.

Funds raised
How we will use the money
All proceeds from the first walk will support The Dream Project, an organization rooted in Puerto Plata that is dedicated to transforming education in the Dominican Republic.
Money raised from the walk will fund essential educational resources, from books to learning materials, which will be distributed to schools across the country that are most in need.
With The Dream Project’s established network and expertise, our contributions will help underfunded and overlooked schools gain the resources necessary to provide quality education to their students, impacting countless lives and inspiring a brighter future for the next generation.

Real life
A life-changing story
"I came to DREAM in 2014 as a student in the A Ganar program. That was where I discovered there was a position open with the Futuros program, which is in charge of training young teachers. At the end of my internship, I became a lead teacher in the Estrellas Jóvenes program, and, after five years of literacy, I am currently transitioning into being a guide in the Montessori program. All these years at DREAM have filled my life with unparalleled adventure and excitement. It has offered me knowledge and experiences that I will always treasure and that will allow me to be a professional with so much more to offer.."

How you can get involved

An introduction to myself
Hola! I'm Callum, originally from England, and I've been living in the Dominican Republic for over two years. During this time, I've witnessed firsthand the urgent need for change. While tourism thrives here, far too many children lack access to the most basic educational materials — and this must change.
I'm incredibly proud to have raised $7,400, enabling 14 children to attend Hope Academy through the amazing work of 2nd Mile Missions. I did so by completing a grueling 200km, 6-day walk from Santo Domingo to Punta Cana, a journey that solidified my commitment to improving educational opportunities for the next generation.
Through Walk for Education, I've found a true passion for creating meaningful change. I'm excited to see how many more lives we can transform together and where this journey will lead.
